Terms

A list of terms we commonly use when referring to tricks, strategies, checks or sometimes in game commentary.

A

B

Butter Knife

This refers to the Hero's Sword due to its lack of power in comparison to the Master Sword.

C

D

DRI

Dragon Roost Island

DRC

Dragon Roost Cavern

Dolphin

It's the emulator most people use to play the randomizer.

E

ESS

It stands for "Extended Super Slide" and refers to a very slight angle on the analog stick to any direction (ESS up, down, etc) right outside of the deadzone. It's used in multiple different tricks.

ET

Earth Temple

F

FCP

Flight Control Platform

FF

Forsaken Fortress

FH

Forest Haven

French Vanilla

Referring to an item being close to the location it's found as it is in Wind Waker SD, such as within the same region. For example, "The Grappling Hook was in Dragon Roost Cavern, that's french vanilla."

Full clear

Refers to the act of clearing every check in a Dungeon, or clearing every logical check on the tracker.

G

Refers to the act of rushing to the end of a dungeon and beating the boss without clearing checks, or having no items left to find to beat the game.

S

Sphere 0

Sphere 0 checks are the checks in the game that the logic considers to need nothing other than the items/songs that are given to the player at the start of the game.

Sploosh Kaboom

Sploosh Kaboom is the community name that was given to the minigame, Sinking Ships.

Savescum

If the player finds an item that's considered "useless" in a check, it's possible to soft-reset the game to go back to the last time the game was saved before getting the item. This is usually faster if you would savewarp out of that check anyway since you don't have to open the menu to save the game or if the last place you saved at is closer to another check, saving a warp or sailing time.

T

TotG

Tower of the Gods. Commonly pronounced as "tot-gee" instead of an acronym.

U

Units of speed

A unit to measure how fast you can move in the game. It's measured in units per frame. Each quadrant of the ocean is 100,000 units.

V

Vanilla

Referring to an item being the same when found in randomizer as it is in Wind Waker SD. For example, "The Grappling Hook was on Dragon Roost Cavern's mini-boss, that's vanilla."

W

WT

Wind Temple

Wind Waker SD

This refers to the original, unmodified Gamecube version of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
