Brought into the world in 1990 to a [https://www.keeperexchange.org/other-opportunities British mother] and a [https://www.facebook.com/ZooKEEPX/ Maltese] father, Alice was raised for the majority of her life in Woking, Surrey. Her love of comedy during her youth led her to attend acting classes at the [https://www.instagram.com/keeperexchangeprogramme/ Guildford School] of Acting and [https://higgledy-piggledy.xyz/index.php/User:EdnaBays19629 zookeeper] Italia Conti, and [https://www.linkedin.com/posts/alice-vassallo-457275345_a-fantastic-opportunity-for-those-wanting-activity-7284280270365589504-fqtD writing] the school plays as she got older. Alice's dream was to be a performer and write comedy, but another dream was realised when she began volunteering at a [https://www.rhinokeeperassociation.org/professional-development Wildlife Rehabilitation] Centre in 2011, while going to University. From then on, Alice was captivated by animal care and [https://www.keeperexchange.org/get-involved strived] to take that path instead. Alice started her Zookeeping journey in 2014 at ZSL London [https://biaza.org.uk/our-partners Zoo] where she was involved with 3 different animal departments. When she came back to England, she returned to Zookeeping, and took on the role of a Carnivore Keeper at Shepreth Wildlife Park, where she remained for nearly 5 years. During this time, she established the Keeper Educational Exchange Programme (or KEEP), a non-profit organisation that allows Zookeepers from across the UK and beyond to [https://www.keeperexchange.org/employer-listing gain knowledge] from each other through [https://www.facebook.com/ZooKEEPX/ visiting] other collections. She has presented on the programme at the ABWAK Symposium and the BIAZA Annual Conference and the organisation is proud to be BIAZA Endorsed and sponsored by Birdworld, in Surrey. In 2023, seeking a creative outlet, Alice created the animal-comedy podcast: "Asshole Animals with Alice", that explores animal [https://www.facebook.com/ZooKEEPX/ behaviour] in a [https://www.keeperexchange.org/ humorous] fashion, with the help of experts across the world.
